26 January 2023- Pennsylvania State Police and their Bureau of Criminal Investigation charge a Chambersburg area man with child pornography and other additional charges. Gary Duane Shetter III is charged with ten counts of felony child pornography, felony disseminating files of child sex acts, and felony criminal use of a communications facility. Shetter is behind bars on $35,000 bail.
On February 15th of 2022, a cybertip was filed into the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children from the image sharing website Imagebam/Flixya. A user with an email address using Shetter’s last name uploaded alleged child pornography to the site, with police able to find the IP address associated with it.
On March 31st, 2022, police prepared a subpoena to Comcast, the ISP associated with the IP address in the cybertip. The physical address came back to a home on Stonybridge Drive in Chambersburg with the subscriber named Gary Shetter. A PennDOT search of that address allegedly confirmed that Shetter lived there with family.
On January 26th of 2023, a search warrant was executed on Shetter’s home on Stoneybridge Drive, with police allegedly finding multiple electronics. An interview with Shetter found that he did allegedly have a password protected Wifi and that he had previously used paid pornography sites. During the interview, Shetter allegedly admitted this, saying that he would “download albums of girls he believed to be of age, even though they appeared to be around the age of 15”. Shetter also allegedly said he did this because “he believed they were more legitimate”.
Some of the files found on Shetter’s devices had the watermark “Lolitasart”. According to police filings, the subjects in the alleged child porn were not around the age of 15 but rather 8-10.
Shetter is behind bars on $35,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for February 7th.
