14 March 2023- A Chambersburg man was taken into custody for a number of warrants but while they were being served he allegedly assaults the responding officers. Amin Jamar Butler is behind bars on $50,000 bail after being charged with felony aggravated assault of an officer, misdemeanor assault, and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
On March 12th, PSP Chambersburg responded to a home on Field Circle for an investigation into a reported domestic incident. Before arrival at the home, police were notified that the complainant, Amin Butler, had multiple outstanding warrants. When they got to the home, Butler’s wife allegedly came to the door but Butler was seen through the door. Butler allegedly yelled at his wife to not let officers in, but still came to the door. After identifying him, Troopers allegedly tried to take Butler into custody for the previous warrants.
As soon as he approached the Troopers, Butler allegedly swung at one of the Troopers, hitting him clean across the jaw. The Trooper then allegedly recovered and brought Butler to the ground. Butler tried to get up and turn around while he was being handcuffed but he was taken into custody without further incident.
Amin Butler is behind bars on $50,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for March 21st.
