22 August 2023- The Chambersburg Fire and EMS Department (CFD) is committed to the community’s safety and makes significant efforts to ensure that personnel are highly trained for any emergency that arises. Each year, fire department personnel conduct over 4,000 personnel hours of training consisting of hands-on, seminars, and on-line firefighting and emergency medical services.
Last week, the fire department was recognized with Lexipol’s Connect Silver Award. Lexipol Connect evaluated and tracked CFD’s performance in several metrics, including average hours of training assigned and completed, personnel engagement, and external training activities. The Silver recognition honored the department not only for meeting performance standards in these metrics, but highlighted these efforts for doing so consistently and effectively.
“Each year the Chambersburg Fire Department personnel respond to over 6,000 emergency incidents. When an individual calls 911, they are expecting a response from highly-trained, motivated, and compassionate individuals that will assist them in their emergency. At any moment, staff must have the knowledge and skills to solve whatever problem they are dealt,” said Dustin Ulrich, Fire Chief and EMS Director. “We are proud to be recognized by Lexipol for ensuring our personnel are prepared to meet the needs of our community.”
