Carlisle man pronounced deceased following crash on Walnut Bottom Road

10 June 2024- An 88 year old Cumberland County man hit a tree stump during a single vehicle crash at the end of May, resulting in his death.

Pennsylvania State Police say that Charles R Leeds, 88, of Carlisle, was driving a 2017 Nissan Frontier southbound on Walnut Bottom Road in Dickinson Township on May 31st when it traveled across the northbound lane of travel and off the roadway. Leeds’ vehicle then struck a tree stump on the side of the road and sustained total front end damage.

Leeds was extricated by civilians on the scene of the crash, with him being transported to UPMC Carlisle by Cumberland Goodwill EMS. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
