Can’t sleep? It may be because you sprung for these late night snacks…

02 January 2024- If you find yourself tossing and turning at night, it could be caused by something you’re eating. Dieticians tell ‘Best Life Online’ to avoid these foods after 8pm, which can disrupt sleep:

  • Cheeseburgers, tacos and fries – which can cause indigestion due to their high fat content.
  • Chili peppers – which can cause acid reflux.
  • Coffee, energy drinks and green tea – between the caffeine and presence of synthetic stimulants in some of these drinks, dieticians recommend avoiding these drinks an entire 8 hours before bedtime.
  • Candy – which can spike your blood sugar, leaving you up at night.
  • Alcohol – which is linked to poorer sleep.

The trendlines seem to show if a food gives you acid reflux, heartburn, or agita, maybe don’t spring for it after 8pm!
