BREAKING: victims in Hagerstown double shooting were mother and her 4 y/o, suspect apprehended

17 November 2022- On 11/16/22 at about 4:20pm, HPD was dispatched to the APM Inn and Suites at 431 Dual Highway, for a report of two deceased individuals who had been located in a room by staff. On arrival officers located two females suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The females were pronounced deceased at the scene. Criminal investigators and the Western Maryland Regional Crime Lab were called to the scene to investigate. Investigation revealed that the victims were a mother and daughter who have been identified as Elise Wars (40 years of age) and Khori Ashton (4 years of age) who had both been residing in the hotel for several months.


Through the investigation, the suspect was identified as Javon Hines, D.O.B. 8/24/2000, (no fixed
address) who was an acquaintance of Wars. With the assistance of other law enforcement partners, Hines was located and taken into custody in Elkridge, MD, without incident in the afternoon of 11/17/22.
