BREAKING: 20 year old Huntingdon Co. man charged in fatal February car crash in Franklin County

UPDATE: Ben Allen Scott II was arraigned by Judge David Plum at 1pm on December 29th. He is currently free on an unsecured bail of $75,000. Scott’s preliminary hearing at Central Court is set for February 28th, 2023.


28 December 2022- A young man from Three Springs, Pennsylvania is charged with a number of crimes including homicide by vehicle while DUI. Ben Allen Scott II is charged with felony homicide by vehicle while DUI, three separate counts of misdemeanor DUI, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor drug paraphernalia, and three summary traffic violations of careless driving resulting in death, reckless driving, and disregarding a traffic signal. Scott has not been arraigned at time of writing but has been charged.

According to Pennsylvania State Police Crash releases, the 2014 Ford Fusion allegedly driven by Ben Scott was traveling north on Forge Hill Road around 3:38am on February 24th, 2022. Scott’s car allegedly crossed into the southbound lane of travel and struck the Ford Escape driven by Thomas J Zinobile, also of Three Springs. Scott and Zinobile’s cars hit practically head on, with Scott’s car spinning 180 degrees and Zinobile’s car flipping on its passenger side.

Scott allegedly sustained moderate injuries in the crash and transported to Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, while Zinobile was transported to Chambersburg Hospital and pronounced dead there.

Ben Scott was 19 at the time of the crash, with Thomas Zinoble passing away at the age of 52.

Scott has yet to be arraigned but has been charged with the above crimes through Magisterial District Court 39-3-03 under Judge David L. Plum.
