CHAMBERSBURG – Due to the impact and timing of the upcoming snow storm, most Borough of Chambersburg offices, including City Hall, will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, to the general public. Facilities remain operational for Borough employees, contractors, and for emergencies.
The storm may not be a significant event, but the heaviest snow is supposed to be during the weekday from 9 am to 3 pm. It makes opening the offices more challenging. We do not think there will be more than 3 to 5 inches with plenty of breaks in the snowfall and maybe some sleet in the afternoon. We are confident that the Borough can manage this storm.
Citizens may contact the 24/7 Service Center for any issues associated with utilities, utility billing, snow, streets, or public works at 717-263-4111 or servicecenter@chambersburgpa.gov
The Borough Highway Department, under the supervision of Dave Finch, Assistant Borough Manager, will be leading snow removal operations from early on Thursday morning. Additional employees, not involved in snow and ice clearing for utility departments may be called in on the Borough snow emergency list.
Please contact Dave at dfinch@chambersburgpa.gov if you have any questions about snow and ice removal operations.
Sanitation collection will likely not be impacted by the storm due to the time of its arrival.
It is anticipated that Mayor Walter Bietsch will declare a snow emergency from 4 am on Thursday February 18th until 4 am on Friday February 19th. During the snow emergency, only essential travel is recommended. Please refer citizens to the snow rules on the Borough’s homepage www.chambersburgpa.gov for more details.
The Borough will resume normal operations at 4 am on Friday, February 19th.
