Borough council to hatch chicken plan

CHAMBERSBURG–Chambersburg Borough Council will host a special meeting Wednesday, Jan. 27, to review and discuss proposed rules to keep chickens and other fowl at residential properties.

The borough currently has no particular rules or regulations associated with this practice other than a zoning code associated with the placement of accessory buildings, which would include chicken coops.

The public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers on the first floor of the Utility Departments Addition to Borough Hall, 100 S. Second St.

The meeting will be hybrid, allowing both in-person and on-line participation. Citizens are welcome to attend in-person or log on and witness/ask questions using the Zoom meeting platform. Any citizen can email the Borough Secretary at to obtain the Zoom meeting login information. Zoom is free and can be downloaded at

Social distancing, face coverings and temperature checks will be required for those attending in-person.
