08 March 2023- Washington Township PD arrest a Blue Ridge Summit man after he allegedly repeatedly hit his sister so hard she couldn’t recall basic information to police. Joshua Lee Hendershot is behind bars on $100,000 bail. Hendershot was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, and summary harassment.
On March 3rd, Washington Township PD were dispatched to a home on Blue Ridge Avenue for a reported domestic incident. Dispatch allegedly told police they received a call from a family member at the address that allegedly went dead after the caller reported an assault. The caller did allegedly identify themselves and said that they needed medical attention and that her brother was significantly intoxicated.
Police arrived at the home and immediately found Joshua Hendershot sitting “stoically” on the couch in the living room. Officers then talked to the reported victim, who allegedly had heavy swelling and bruising around her eyes, cheeks, lips, and mouth. She was allegedly also disfigured from the incident and later in court documents she was described as missing two teeth from the incident.
Hendershot was then taken into custody but allegedly repeatedly begged the victim to not have him arrested. While being taken into custody, police could allegedly smell a heavy presence of alcohol coming from Hendershot.
Police later interviewed the victim who allegedly said that an argument earlier in the evening had started the fight when Hendershot was drinking and the victim wouldn’t buy him more alcohol or order DoorDash. The two had allegedly been driving in a vehicle and Hendershot then began hitting her, resulting in the injuries.
Police say that after transport to Meritus Medical Center, it was determined that the victim had lost two teeth, suffered significant facial disfigurement, and had significant memory loss, resulting in her unable to recall basic personal information to officers or EMS. She also allegedly was in and out of consciousness during the questioning.
Hendershot is behind bars on $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for March 14th.
