Black Friday police chase in Fayetteville ends with police finding an empty bottle of Southern Comfort on man’s floorboards

28 November 2023- A Greencastle man is free after posting bail following a drunken chase through Greene and Guilford Townships back roads last week. Clinton A Foster is charged with felony fleeing an officer, misdemeanor DUI, and a dozen traffic offenses including careless driving, drunk driving on a DUI suspended license, and speeding. Foster is free after posting bail of $25,000.

PSP Troopers were in the area of Anthony Highway and Bronson Road in Greene Township around 8:40pm on November 24th when they allegedly observed a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer weave in and out of lanes in front of them. After seeing the car fluctuate speeds and perform other concerning moves, Troopers tried to pull over the car. Instead, the vehicle took off down Bronson Road with the officers not far behind.

Police document the weaving between roads made by the Chevy Trailblazer, eventually reaching speeds up to double the speed limit. Finally, the Trailblazer pulled into the driveway of a farm on Bikle Road the driver gave himself up to police.

That driver was subsequently identified as Clinton Foster by his DUI suspended license. Police say that Foster smelled of alcohol as well as having glassy and bloodshot eyes but he did cooperate with PSP for questioning at the scene. Foster allegedly told police that he didn’t stop because he knew he had drank too much.

Shortly after detaining Foster, police approached his vehicle and reportedly found an empty bottle of Southern Comfort as well as numerous Michelob Ultra beer cans. While Foster allegedly admitted to drinking the Southern Comfort, he said the Michelob’s were drank at another time.

Police make no mention on whether anyone else was affected or hurt by the chase, likely meaning nobody suffered ill effects from it.

Clinton Foster is free after posting bail. His preliminary hearing is set for December 5th.
