Bail set at $150k following prolonged assault at Greencastle home

21 December 2023- An incident at a home on Browns Mill Road outside Greencastle is sending one man to Franklin County jail on a hefty bail and another woman to the hospital. Adam Christian Emerick is charged with felony aggravated assault with extreme indifference, misdemeanor strangulation, misdemeanor assault, and summary harassment. As previously stated, Emerick received a bail of $150,000 from MDJ Jody Eyer, which he has not posted.

Around 11:15pm on December 20th, Pennsylvania State Police were alerted to an assault that had allegedly happened in Pennsylvania, with the victim seeking treatment at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland. The victim was able to notify her caregivers that she was assaulted by Adam Emerick at a home on Browns Mill Road, Antrim Township.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office initially met with the victim, reportedly learning that she had significant injuries including stitches needed for two separate locations to the victim’s head and behind her ear.

PSP conducted the primary interviews with the victim, with hostilities for the night initially starting at a Sheetz on the way home from a night out where Emerick reportedly threw a large, full bag of snacks and cans at the victim. This continued, with a verbal argument ensuing at the Browns Mill Road home and Emerick shoving the victim to the floor. According to court filings, police say Emerick punched the victim repeatedly and choked her before the victim managed to get up and leave the home. In that process, the victim allegedly told police that she pushed Emerick off her before he pushed her head through a glass door in the front of the home. This caused the glass to break and gave her numerous lacerations to her head and behind the ears. She then drove to Meritus for medical attention.

PSP Troopers approached the Greencastle home with Emerick inside and quickly took him into custody. Troopers say that in subsequent interviews with Emerick, he allegedly tried to downplay the incident and say that he didn’t intend to hurt her at the Sheetz. Additionally, he allegedly denied getting on top of her and choking her. The glass breaking, Emerick reportedly told police, was because pushed the victim to create space, only for her to go through the door with her shoulder.

While taking Emerick into custody, police found the damaged glass door with both panels missing. Emerick allegedly told them he had taken the remainder of the glass and frames from the panels out.

Adam Emerick is behind bars on $150,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for January 2nd, 2024.
