BAIL DENIED: Shippensburg man accused of threatening multiple victims with gun, firing off shots at a vehicle and in the air

20 May 2024- A Shippensburg man accused of threatening to kill or harm multiple women has been denied bail by Franklin County MDJ Duane Cunningham. Maxwell Troy Eckenrode is behind bars after being charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony criminal trespassing, felony firearm carried without a license, misdemeanor terroristic threats, misdemeanor assault, two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, and misdemeanor damaging property. MDJ Cunningham said in court filings “no amount can ensure defendant’s appearance and public safety”.

Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a home on Roxbury Road, Southampton Township around 10:15pm on May 18th for a call of shots fired. When Troopers arrived, they spoke to multiple victims who said that Maxwell Eckenrode had come to the home uninvited and was talking about taking his own life due to a relationship situation. After this, Eckenrode allegedly pulled the gun on one of the victims, pointing it directly at her face and threatening her to reveal a person’s location. Eckenrode allegedly fired off multiple rounds from a handgun outside the home (PSP were able to find three spent .45 caliber shell casings) in order to intimidate the victims.

After speaking to the victims, PSP also learned that one of the shots fired appeared to strike one of the victim’s cars, going through the rear bumper on the driver side of the car. Additionally, Eckenrode is 18 years old, making him a person ineligible to carry a handgun. He was arrested shortly after the alleged incident, with him being arraigned at 7am, Sunday morning.

Maxwell Eckenrode is behind bars after having bail denied.
