“Art Outside” Participants Sought

HAGERSTOWN – Interested visual artists invited to apply now.

Hagerstown’s Arts and Entertainment District seeks visual artists to participate in a series of outdoor art events taking place between 10:30 am-2:30 pm on Wednesdays, September 29 through October 27.  “Art Outside” will showcase up to two artists situated in Public Square who will create miniature pieces of art to be given away to passersby.

The District will provide each artist with a chair, table, canopy, and a variety of surfaces on which to create. Selected artists are required to bring their own paint, charcoal, fixative, brushes, and other media. Artists will be compensated $125 per session as well as a $25 materials budget. Guidelines and applications are available at www.hagerstownmd.org/DocumentCenter/View/11856/Art-Outside-Call-for-Artists-Fall-2021. To be considered for selection, interested individuals should complete and submit the application along with three digital work samples by Wednesday, September 15.

The Hagerstown Arts and Entertainment District is a state-recognized program through the Maryland State Arts Council. A variety of incentives are in place to encourage arts entrepreneurs to ply their craft in the District, including property tax credits, state income tax incentives, and exemption from the admissions and amusement tax.
