On 1/14/21 at 2247 hours, Chambersburg Police responded to the area of 54 West Queen Street for a vehicle fire. As officers arrived on the scene an oxygen tank that was in the vehicle exploded. The fire department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire.
No one was injured in the fire and subsequent explosion. This fire was investigated and found to have been set by Jerry Townsend. Townsend was taken into custody on 1/15/21 around 0530 hours.
