America250PA Liberty Tree & Reception at 11/30 Visitors Center

CHAMBERSBURG – The Franklin County Visitors Bureau invites the community to the America250PA Liberty Tree Planting in Franklin County PA at the Chambers Fort Park, off North Main Street, in downtown Chambersburg at 4 PM on Tuesday, October 17.

During the American Revolutionary War, the Sons of Liberty gathered together under historic trees, called Liberty Trees. These trees became symbols of American freedom. Patriots, throughout the 13 colonies, starting designating Liberty Trees. In remembrance of these historical trees and meetings, America250PA is planting Liberty Trees throughout the Commonwealth.

The effort is earnestly sponsored by and made possible in partnership with the Pennsylvania Freemasons, America250PA’s Liberty Tree Project includes a certified Liberty Tree planted in each of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties. Franklin County is the second county to have this historic tree placed.

The public is invited to join the ceremony. A reception will follow at the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center. Both are free and open to the community.
