Alcohol, a knife, and a hammer involved in alleged Greencastle domestic that sends man to jail

19 March 2024- A Greencastle man is facing aggravated assault charges after a domestic incident early Tuesday morning ends with him reportedly chasing a victim around with a knife and hammer. Scott Micheal McCleaf is charged with felony attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor terroristic threats, and two misdemeanor counts of simple assault. McCleaf failed to post bail of $100,000.

PSP were called to an active domestic incident at a home on Molly Pitcher Highway in Antrim Township just around 2:30am on Tuesday morning. Troopers were alerted to a male chasing a female around a home with an edged weapon, but that the victim was able to leave the situation.

Troopers arrived on scene and quickly took that male, identified as Scott McCleaf, into custody while they conducted their investigation.

The victim was subsequently interviewed by PSP, with her reportedly telling them that she was in a romantic relationship with McCleaf and that they had been drinking at a table through the night. An altercation, however, occurred between the two just prior to 911 being called in which McCleaf allegedly struck her just above the left eye and “all about her head and shoulders”. McCleaf then allegedly brandished a knife and a hammer, causing the victim to run away out of the home. After reentering and trying to calm McCleaf down, she was reportedly chased out of the home again.

Troopers say they were told of a sword being used in the threatening moves, but they do not specifically mention finding one on scene. They did, however, reportedly find a folding knife on McCleaf’s person, as well as a hammer on the table where they had been drinking.

Scott McCleaf is behind bars on $100,000 bail.
