AG’s office allegedly finds child porn in Waynesboro man’s cloud storage containing his driver’s license, banking info

23 February 2024- The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office says that a Waynesboro man was found to have dozens files of child pornography on a cloud storage account also containing his banking, medical, and certification paperwork. Justin Michael Dingle is charged with 50 counts of felony child pornography possession and one felony count of criminal use of a communications facility. Dingle failed to post bail of $250,000.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children initially sent a cyber tip to the office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General on July 31st of 2023 that a user of Synchronoss Technologies’ cloud storage software had uploaded possible child pornography. Confirming that to be the case, as well as receiving numerous other tips from NCMEC, Special Agents began investigating the IP, phone number, and other information involved in the case.

Utilizing digital investigation tactics, special agents were able to pinpoint the upload point of the files, as well as the subscriber to the Synchronoss cloud storage account, to a location on Antietam Drive in Waynesboro. Synchronoss, it should be said, is a cloud storage company that provides branded storage for a number of different companies. In this case, it provided cloud backup and storage under the name of Verizon for the latter’s customers.

On January 11th of 2024, Special Agents were able to execute a search warrant on the entirety of the account contents belonging to Justin Dingle. Dingle, investigators say, has a phone number associated with the uploaded content that sent the initial cybertip. During that search, agents say that at least 95 files of apparent child pornography were located in the account, with at least 25 of them depicting indecent contact of a child under the age of ten.

Also within the searched folder were allegedly pictures of Justin Michael Dingle and pictures of his driver’s license with a correct DOB and location. Additionally, Special Agents assigned to the case say they found photos of banking, medical, and certification paperwork belonging to Justin Dingle.

Justin Dingle is behind bars on $250,000 bail.
