66 more charges for Shippensburg man accused of abusing 911 system

08 March 2024- A Shippensburg man already facing two dozen counts of abuse of the 911 system in Cumberland County is now looking at almost three dozen more of those charges in addition to harassment. Steven K. Blake is charged with 33 misdemeanor counts of communications with 911 and 33 misdemeanor counts of harassment by communication repeatedly in an anonymous manner. Blake is still awaiting a court date following a summons being issued.

This latest case against Blake started on February 18th around 1:30pm when PSP Carlisle allegedly received a call from Steven Blake, which was determined to be his “minimum” sixth call made that day to emergency services. After Blake reportedly “would not inform me (the Trooper) of any immediate emergency requiring emergency services”, Blake was told that further calls to 911 would result in criminal charges. The line, they say, was then disconnected.

On February 19th, Troopers received a report from Cumberland County 911 administrators who said they had data showing Blake made 33 calls to 911 between the dates of 2/16 and 2/18. These calls, Troopers say, did not require any emergency services “and were diverting critical resources from emergencies”.

Steven Blake is free awaiting his next court appearance.
