08 March 2023- After the resignation of Hagerstown Mayor Emily Keller, the subsequent search and appointment of Tekesha Martinez as new Mayor, and finally the search for Martinez’s replacement on council, it looks like the City is down to five final candidates. According to the City, those selected to advance to the next phase, the interview stage, are:
• Sean Flaherty
• Jennifer Gardner
• Stacy Lynn Michael
• Matthew J. Schindler
• Stephen Schutte
Those interviews will take place during next Tuesday’s 4pm Mayor and Council Work Session.
The following Tuesday, March 21, the elected body can either opt to conduct a second interview with selected candidates or to review the interviews of the five applicants from the previous week in Executive Session (closed to the public) in order to make their choice. The Mayor and Council will then appoint the new Councilmember at the Regular Session on Tuesday, March 28.
