3 of 5 Hagerstown Councilmembers Want To Be Mayor

HAGERSTOWN – At 2:30 today, 7 February 2023, Hagerstown Council members will go into executive session and attempt to decide who will lead the City after Mayor Keller resigned for a role in the new MD Governor’s administration.

The process is spelled out in the City Charter. Wes Decker, Communications Officer – City of Hagerstown, spoke to NEWS TALK 1037FM “In case of a vacancy in the office of Mayor for any reason the council shall select a qualified person to fill the vacancy for the unexpired term without regard to political party.”

At 4pm there will be a special session to appoint the new Mayor followed by a regular work session for the new Mayor and Council.
