18 year old Shippensburg man arrested after 110mph chase down 81

31 January 2023- A Shippensburg man is free on $30,000 bail after he allegedly leads PSP Troopers on a multi-mile chase down I-81 in Franklin County. Leon Arron Wagner is charged with felony fleeing an officer and five summary traffic violations.

Around 4:15pm on January 30th, PSP Troopers were on stationary patrol on I-81 around mile marker 10 when they spotted an orange ford focus travelling down 81 carelessly passing cars and driving very fast. Pulling behind the car, a 2013 Ford Focus ST, the driver allegedly failed to yield and drove faster, reaching 108mph. Another trooper allegedly clocked the cars at 110mph on I-81NB. The car then started passing off the east side of the interstate. Troopers deployed spike strips on the interstate, with the Focus avoiding them and continuing north. Troopers then tried to get around the car before the Focus allegedly slowed to speeds of 45mph and crossed from the middle lane of travel and struck the Trooper’s vehicle at the 3 o’clock position, attempting to avoid being boxed in. Troopers engaged in a successful PIT maneuver and the driver was subdued. He allegedly didn’t comply with verbal commands to leave the car and was “assisted” out of the vehicle. The driver was then found to be Leon Arron Wagner of Shippensburg.

Wagner is free on $20,000 unsecured bail. His preliminary hearing is set for February 7th.
